On Friday, March 27, 2020, the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) transmitted the final results of the Phase 3 Retail Round 1 Audit conducted by Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting, Inc. to the Mayor and City Council. Based on feedback received, including that of the Audit and from stakeholders, the Department has prepared a series of recommendations regarding legislative amendments to the licensing and Social Equity Program application processing procedures to provide a more equitable path forward for all applicants.

The recommendations offered by DCR seek to provide reasonable and practical reforms based on information gathered from the Audit, the Department’s experiences thus far in leading local cannabis licensing and Social Equity Program and policy implementation, and most importantly the feedback received from the local community and stakeholders involved in and impacted by the process.

These recommendations were included in a report transmitted to the City Council on Friday, April 10, 2020. To access the Department’s report and submit public comment via the designated Council File (CF: 20-0446), click here

The Department looks forward to engaging with stakeholders and policymakers on these, and future recommendations to address ongoing opportunities and challenges related to the Department’s licensing and Social Equity Program.
