5.14.2020 LA City Annual Renewals Update

[IMPORTANT UPDATE]

Last week, the Department of Cannabis Regulation announced that Phase 1 and Phase 2 Applicants with Temporary Approval are granted an extension of time until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020 to remit payment for outstanding 2019 and/or 2020 Temporary Approval renewal invoices. The Department will upload a revised invoice with the new due date to the associated Accela record for all Phase 1 and Phase 2 Applicants with Temporary Approval by Friday, May 15, 2020.

Applicants with Temporary Approval who do not pay their renewal fees by the June 30, 2020 deadline will be required to cease operations and will not be allowed to engage in Commercial Cannabis Activity until a new application is submitted to DCR and a new Temporary Approval or License is issued. In addition, Applicants with outstanding Commercial Cannabis Activity fees must also remit payment for any outstanding activity fee invoices by 12:00 p.m., June 30, 2020.

Businesses may remit payment for outstanding invoices by mail or in person, by check, money order or cashier’s check at the Office of Finance’s Van Nuys office.  It is the responsibility of the Applicant to remit payment for the Temporary Approval renewal fees by 12:00 p.m., June 30, 2020. Applicants with payments consisting of more than 40 money orders or more than $1,000 in cash must make an appointment to remit payment. Additionally, Phase 2 Applicants without Temporary Approval are required to pass their pre-licensing inspection by July 3, 2020. All Phase 2 Applicants without Temporary Approval must request their pre-licensing inspection in writing by email on or before June 3, 2020 to dcrlicensing@lacity.org, with the subject line “Request for Pre-Licensing Inspection - Application No. LA-C-18-XXXXXX-APP”. Pre-licensing inspection requests will only be accepted for the Business Premises location* listed in the application.

Applications that have not been scheduled for a pre-licensing inspection by June 3, 2020, or do not pass the pre-licensing inspection by July 3, 2020, shall be deemed abandoned.
